One of the most lucrative elite domestic T20 tournaments in the world is the Indian Premier League (IPL). Top T20 players from around the world are keen to take part in the competition and show off their skills.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction is set to take place in Kochi on Friday. The one-day mini-auction will set the stage for all 10 teams to make up their final squads before the 16th season of the marquee league (IPL) next year. While a maximum of 87 slots are open for the teams, a big attraction will be the 30 slots open for the biggest overseas T20 stars.

BCCI Money Machine (IPL)

The brainchild of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the IPL has developed into the most lucrative and popular outlet for the game of cricket. Matches generally begin in the late afternoon or evening so that at least a portion of them are played under floodlights at night to maximize the television audience for worldwide broadcasts.

The ten teams that battle it out are the Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Sunrises Hyderabad, the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, the Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Gujrat Titans, and the Lucknow Super Giants.
