Durban Super Giants Captain for SA20
Durban Super Giants Captain: For the first season of the SA20 league, Quinton de Kock will lead the Durban Super Giants. He will be the first person to start prep for the league.
De Kock's Performance Over the Years
De Kock, 29, is a significant player in South Africa. In T20 cricket, his left-handedness and aggressiveness at the top of the order make him a sought-after player. De Kock has led the national team before in addition to his 8497 runs at an average of 33 and a strike rate of 138. Eight ODIs, 11 T20Is, and four Tests have all seen him captain them. The IPL franchise with the same owners as this Durban team, the Lucknow Super Giants, also has De Kock on its roster.
De Kock ended his Test career in December 2021, stating how challenging it was to play in all three forms.
De Kock in IPL
Quinton De Kock scored 508 runs at a strike rate of almost 150 in the 2022 IPL, and he followed that up with 221 runs at a strike rate of nearly 130 in the CPL. But his performance in the Hundred in England suffered, and his most recent task—the men's T20 World Cup—also didn't go as planned. South Africa was out of the tournament after losing to the Netherlands in the tournament's group stage.
De Kock will be free to plan his SA20 campaign while the Test team get ready for a December visit of Australia. To help him lead the squad forward in Durban, he will have Keshav Maharaj, Jason Holder, and head coach Lance Klusener. On January 11, they play the Johannesburg Super Kings, the team that represents de Kock's hometown, to open their campaign.
